The Love Fountain

Since Ike was on its way to Houston Neil, Grace, and I packed up and headed out of town. When we left Neil's co workers laughed but some areas in Houston are still out of power! For the those of you unfamiliar with Houston it is not a lovely place without air conditioning. We spent a few fun days in Dallas with Neil's aunt and uncle. Which was perfect since Neil's company has a Dallas office. While in Dallas we went out to eat at Babes and I had the best fried chicken on the planet. While not much in the looks department this resturant rocked my world. The moment I walked in the door a delicious aroma of fried chicken attacked my nostrils. Neil and I also took Grace to the Fort Worth Zoo. I took pictures but I left the camera with Neil :( After a few days Grace and I decided to head up to Chicago for a visit. While here Grace had her first 1/2 birthday. To commemorate the special day Dad, Mom, Ashton, Troy, Grace and I went on a picnic in the park. While there we played a killer soccer game where Troy and I demolished Ashton and Dad. Later we swung by the love fountain and Grace made her first true love wish :) The love fountain has been a tradition since childhood. When my sister Jill and I were little our friends Jodi and Lena introduced us the the love fountain. Their mom would take us to the candy store and then we would go take our change and make some true love wishes. Now the love fountain is not for the faint of heart because there is a special etiquette one must follow. You see before making a wish you have to run around the fountain not once, not twice, but three times. And then throw in your coin with attitude. Only then is your wish sure to come true. Well, when we went this past week it was the middle of the day and there were plenty of witnesses about. Did that stop us... of course not. True love is totally worth public embarrassment.

My brother is serving a mission for our church right now in Mexico. He gets to send us emails every week and they have become a family joke. They are all like this "Hi family, Things are fine. We have a few baptisms this week. Got to go we are playing soccer today. Love, Ty" So imagine my surprise when I read this...

Hey family
So things here are going really well. We baptized yesterday and have 2 more for tomorrow. It's really hot here but not like Acapulco or Zihua. Here the heat is really dry and you don't sweat a lot. But the work has been pretty good. Oh yeah on Saturday morning at 2 am my companion and I were sleeping when he got up to check the fan, he thought it was burning, I was still asleep and he told me to get up that we had to go. I was like what's wrong because he usually freaks out about little things. So he tells me there's a lot of smoke. I get up look in the other room and there's a huge fire there. The connection with the fridge got messed up and fried and started a fire that got bigger and bigger with all the paper that we had over there. So we put towels over our heads and run down the 3 floors to the street and start yelling for people to call the firemen. Anyway about 50 people decided to come out of their houses to watch us instead of calling the firefighters, so we went upstairs and started throwing water on the fire, and by the time the fire got put out the firemen came. But now we don't have light and our walls are all charcoal black. So we have to paint and get everything fixed now. Fun times. ANyway that's about it

A Tribute to Ash

Today my sister Ashton turns 18, here are some fun facts about the little lady.
1. As you can see from this pic Ashy has tons of luxurious thick hair, of which I am totally jealous!
2. When Ashton was a little girl we use to like to dress her up in costumes with full make up and hair do's. My favorite was Ash Queen of the Nile.
3. Ashton has always wanted a dog and was the only child to make my mother seriously think about getting one.
4. Poor Ashton had to be the only girl at home with Ty and Troy (aka the gas brothers). The fact that the boys are still alive after all their teasing is evidence of Ashton's saintly character.
5. Ashton can make my mother's delicious oatmeal chocolate chip cookies so well you would think Mom had made them.
6. Ashton loves adventure/ fantasy books
7. Ashton is the tallest girl in my immediate family. She towers over the rest of us at a whopping 5 feet 5 inches
8. Ashton once saved Troy's life when he couldn't breathe in the night
9. Ash is always ready to shake her groove thing
10. Ashton is extremely organized
11. Aunt Ash happily changed some of Baby G's nasty diapers when we were visiting, earning her the coveted position of favorite aunt!
12. Ashton sings and plays the piano
13. Ash can always be suckered into giving Dad a back rub
14. Ashton is smart as a whip and even earned a 100% on a physics test. The first in Wagner history!
15. When Ashton was born Ty cried because she wasn't a boy
16. Ashton use to refuse to wear make up but luckily that phase passed and she can apply eyeliner with the best of them.
17. Ash has a competitive streak and is fierce on the basketball court
18. Ash has an unusual fondness for stuff toys and bestowed Grace with a stuffed dog before her birth

Guess What!

Baby G got her first tooth last week, last Tuesday to be exact! I tried to get a good photo of it today but she was too squirmy. I need to wait until Neil is around to help demobilize the child.
