ramblings

Today the kids and I had a picnic. I set out a blanket upstairs in the TV room and we munched on McDonald's chicken nuggets and fries while watching Max and Ruby. It was fun and they loved it. I hurt my back earlier this week so we have been trapped at home the past few days and it has been a bit of a challenge to keep them entertained. I have given in to TV watching a few too many times. I have been trying not to lift the kids, but all moms know how that goes. We are down to hot dogs, pinto beans and mandarin oranges so it is a good thing Neil comes home from Dallas tonight. He is getting sent off to the grocery store first thing :) In other news the baby is rocking and shaking all over the place. I am getting more and more excited to meet this little lady. What will she look like? Will she be a perfect happy baby or a difficult screamer? I'm a little worried about the latter someone told me I was "due" a difficult baby. So far I have had happy little sleepers so I'll just keep my fingers crossed. When we were in Chicago I bought the little lady the cutest little flowery dress. It could work for a blond or brunette. When I was pregnant with John I thought for sure he would have dark hair so I bought things to go with that coloring- boy was I wrong. The tan and cream shirts and sweaters did nothing for him. Now he gets mostly blues and greens. The other day we were playing hide and seek and I asked John where Grace was and he actually pointed to her feet sticking out form under the bed. Kids pick up things so fast it always catches me by surprise. I placed Grace's dinner before her the other day and she asked for something else and I responded, "This is not a restaurant." She looked down at her plate then up at me and replied, "can we please go to the restaurant?" My two year old food critic.

rain rain go away

Poor John received four shots today and Grace got one. John was traumatized but Grace took it in stride and didn't even cry. She told me she was "being brave." I think it helped that my mom gave her a doctor's kit for Christmas. She has been busy making us "all better" with shots and by listening to our hearts and looking in our ears constantly. Of course to add to our delightful day there has been a major down pour and I just looked out the window and the garbage man managed to drop a dirty diaper on our drive way which probably has been sitting there getting soaked for about 4 hours now. nasty.

In other news I finished Mocking Jay last night and SPOILER ALERT I wasn't that excited about the ending. I wanted her to be with Gale, Peeta just seems too big and doughy. Anybody else read it?

Wedding Anniversary!!!

It is my anniversary today and poor Neil is trapped in Dallas so I am going to list four reasons I am glad I got married to a certain gentleman four years ago.
1. Neil makes muddy buddies for me without being asked- this is especially wonderful when I am pregnant
2. He works hard so we don't have to worry about homelessness, starvation, and nakedness
3. He likes our little kiddos
4. and most importantly he can hang curtains :)
XOXO Happy Anniversary!!!
I just wish I could go back and relive my wedding day, it was perfect. And talk about perfection, take a look at this-

Happy Birthday John!!!

OK blogger is hating on me and the pictures are loading all weird- sorry if the captions don't match the pic!
Here are some pics from John's big day

Lets just say his cake contained two pounds of chocolate mousse, thanks Grandma!

"Hmmmm, what do we have here?"

John surprised us with his mad fork skills- but it proved more time effective to throw off the constraints of society and dig right in
Here are Neil and John
And after much deliberation and sampling I think John decided he liked the cake after all
After some clean up came presents and Grace was happy to help John out with the unwrapping
More presents
And a kiss for the birthday boy!

Chicago

Guess who turns 1 tomorrow?

Little John-o! And he loves having his picture taken.

And here is a picture of Gracies with the littlest snowman ever that she built with her Aunt Maricruz. Grace pounded on the door and demanded a carrot. I assumed she wanted it for her snowman's nose but no- she just wanted a snack.
And finally here is a picture which reminds me of my childhood. My brother Ty attacking someone :)

Jingle bells, Jingle bells

Hurray! I have only one more Christmas present to get! The kids and I flew to Chicago and I have been out shopping with my mom so, of course, the one person I still have to buy for is her. My brother, Ty, claims John took his first steps today while I was up stairs but I'm not sure if I believe it. Grace has decided she prefers to call Santa "that ho ho guy" instead of Santa. John has discovered biting and apparently it gives him great joy. I plopped John down on top of my littlest brother Troy and John proceeded to attack his bottom and give it four vicious chomps before I could grab him. Then he tried to bite his Grandma's leg and chased her around the couch. Keep in mind he was laughing hysterically during all of this. The little turkey. Grace also delights in "putting stuff up high so John-o can't get it" quote from the G-ster. Oh and we are having a little girl!! I don't think I posted when we found out because I was waiting to scan the ultra sound but it doesn't look like we are going to be doing that any time soon. So yes it is a girl and I bought her the cutest little dress this week :)
