Good News

I found my camera charger! I have had a lot of things to document but have been at a loss since the disappearance of my charger.
Bad News- I feel like I am in a style rut. I need something to get me excited about my look. I'm thinking of going shorter in the hair department for the summer. It is so gross and humid here I usually resort to a ponytail anyway. But, alas, my hair cutter gal is pregnant and taking a year off. Ugh. Now I will have to resort to finding strangers who have cute hair and asking them where they get their hair done. Also, I have been reading articles on what sort of cut a person should get depending on their face shape but I can't decide if I have a round or square face. If you have an opinion please let me know :) Thanks

Its That TIme of Year When the World Falls in Love

Oh yes, it is girl scout cookie season once more! While we speak Neil is out procuring me a box of caramel delights. I have had a close relationship with girl scout cookies since kindergarten when I was a Daisey. After that I joined league with the Brownies. My mom even served as the assistant leader. One year to earn a cookie patch each girl had to sell 50 boxes. My sister and I tried to get neighborhood folk to sign up but the situation was looking dire. (In retrospect, what was up with those people- I search for girl scouts to sell those cookies to me.) In a dashing move my dad bought 50 boxes from me and 50 boxes from my sister, Jill, so we could have our patches. Now that is love. And we had the added bonus of girl scout cookies all year round- available in our very own freezer.

In Celebration of Sweet Baby Grace

I am flummoxed over Grace's birthday. There are just so many options. Would Grace like a princess party or a pink polka dot party? How am I too find out the answer to these vital questions when Grace's vocabulary is limited to Momma, Daddy, Ut-Oh, choo choo, go, and no? And "no" doesn't really mean no- it is just what the cool toddlers are saying. Would Grace salivate over this cake? (thanks Martha)

Mommy and Me

Tonight Grace and I went on a Mommy/Daughter date. I know, usually they are Daddy/Daughter dates but why should men get all the fun? One family I know always has the dad take the kids out for dates and someone asked him if his wife ever got to take them out and the man just looked confused and said "Why would she do that?" I have a strange feminist streak and when I heard this I decided I would take all my children on mommy dates. Of course I want Neil to take them on daddy dates as well :) The streak surfaces at odd moments. For example if someone tells me to sew on a button or after I gave birth and gave Grace my name as her middle name (I must confess Neil had the idea in the first place) and then of course if one of my brothers says, "Woman. Make me a sandwich." Why should all my "quality time" with my children involve folding laundry and cooking meals. Luckily, Neil is all about loving and supporting his womenfolk so today Grace and I had our first Mommy/Daughter date. On our way home from babysitting Grace and I got some fabulous cuisine (McDonald's) and relaxed on the drive home to the tender soothing strains of "Its a small world after all" (Baby G's favorite). There was excellent conversation and Grace ended the evening by downing two pieces of bologna, a pear, and some green beans in addition to her fries and chicken nuggets! Is it me or does that seem like a lot for an eleven month old? I also made the mistake of letting her try chocolate cake the other day. I should have filmed it, because after one bite she let out a hearty chuckle and dove in. Now if she spots chocolate she will not rest until she gets a piece of it. Hence the demise of my Valentines Day chocolates- oh the sacrifices of motherhood!
