WARNING

in a few short hours I will be old. Six hours to be exact. For some reason 28 seems much older then 27. 27 seems young, peppy, and spry with good times ahead. 28 sounds dull and wrinkly with an early bedtime. So in order to get in a happy frame of mind for my big day I am going to make a list of fun things I will do while 28.
1. Buy some awesome skin care products to keep my skin from looking like dried out crusty leather ( i have been happily thinking about this splurge all day :)
2. Read that latest Mocking Jay book
3. Get a new baby (we find out the gender on Friday!)
4. Devour the crab risotto appetizer at my birthday dinner with Neil this weekend (yum yum yummity yum)
that is all I can think of for now. Adios

And then there were three

Little Baby Larson number three started wiggling around a few weeks ago. Well, I suppose the baby has been wiggling for a while but I finally noticed. The morning sickness is gone and except for the occasional acid reflux and back spasm I feel great- most of the time I forget I am pregnant. In a week we find out the gender of the baby so then the real planning can begin. This has been a little bit of a shock to my system, I planned on having a nice two year break after having John before the next baby came. But when John was a few months old I started thinking about another baby. I dismissed it the first several times and then I decided to talk to Neil about it. I was sure he would dismiss it as some weird form of the baby blues. So I called Neil and talked to him and all he said was, "let me think about it." Not quite the reaction I planned on. A little while later Neil called me back and declared he thought we should have another baby but we should start praying for a raise. So we did and the next day Neil got a raise. Things seemed pretty clear we were suppose to have this baby now. My mom thinks the little baby was just really excited to get here and couldn't wait. I am feeling all sappy and emotional about my little kiddos so it is probably the right time to stop typing :) But that, in a nut shell, is why there is only a 15 month break between the kids. You should see the crazy looks I get from people now that I am obviously pregnant and carting around a toddler and a baby. I was at the mall the other day and this lady stopped to hold the door for my stroller so I said, "Thanks, I have a lot going on." She looked at my stomach then at John and Grace and told me, with a voice drenched in disdain, "You have too much going on"! Little did she know my children have been the greatest blessings I have been given. (Hopefully that end isn't too didactic).

chatty chatter box

Grace talks a lot. There is almost always a constant flow of words coming from her mouth. Here are some of her most quotable quotes at 2 1/2 years old.
During her nightly prayer she solemnly declared, "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that I not poopy."
While I was lost driving around Dallas, "We are never going to find this stupid place!"
When driving to Dallas from Houston John started crying and Grace promptly started singing, "Go to sleep little darling John-o, go to sleep." She often sings/tells John to "be happy little John-o"
And when John wakes up from his naps and begins to cry Grace bravely declares, "Grace to the rescue" and runs to "take care" of John.
Yesterday we went to a cute little pumpkin farm where there was a little play house made out of hay. Grace went inside it to play and a little boy, probably 4 years old, gave here a big bunch of artificial flowers and she was tickled pink. She kept telling me "that little boy gave me flowers. I like it."
The other day I was getting out a story to read to Grace while John crawled around and Grace started chasing John and telling him he had to come sit down, be quiet, and listen to story time. She may be a little bossy.
Grace is dressing up as a fairy for Halloween and insisted on wearing her fairy wings all day; to the store, around the house, and to the pumpkin farm. Several people told her she looked cute and she told me later, "The ladies like my wings"
John has also been giving me a run for my money. He just turned 10 months old! He is all over the place crawling and cruising and he is able to climb up one stair but then he gets stuck and screams for "MAMA." He only ever says mama when he is in distress and then he wails it. He has started chattering a lot more and he loves to yell out a lovely scream of delight that sounds like what I imagine a baby dinosaur would sound like. He has eight little teeth right now which are a little spread out, much to Neil's concern. And he has completely rejected baby food. If he can't feed it to himself there is no way he is eating it. He likes hot dogs, mac and cheese, all fruit, crackers and pieces of bread. Yesterday he and Grace road in one of the grocery carts that has a little car hooked on the front and he loved it! He honked the horn and was turning the wheel like a pro. John continues to be a very happy and contented little fellow, he earned himself the title of "The only baby I like" from my older sister. John is too busy to cuddle very much but he always likes to snuggle right after he gets up from his naps. He clings to my neck with his chubby little arms and I love it. His hair has all filled in and his signature mo hawk is gone but he still looks dashing and requires frequent hair cuts. Neil took him in the pool the other day and he totally reclined and kicked his legs up in his tube- he was the picture of relaxation. John is also already very social. He loves attention and other babies. If he sees a baby he will watch it and then make happy noises trying to get the baby's attention and if the baby looks up he just starts laughing with joy. John is also extremely ticklish on his tummy and if you kiss his neck. He loves to play in the bath but hates getting dressed. So that is where the kids are at right now. It is documented for posterity so I can relax :)

must buy car now

any suggestions?
It has been nice here in the Woodlands because we have only had to have one car. Neil's work is so close I can just drop him off and go about my day with minimal inconvenience. But in Dallas we will not be living in such a close proximity to his office and once I have this third baby we will no longer fit in my trusty corolla. My parents gave me the corolla while I was in college and it has always run beautifully. Well the battery died a few weeks ago and I was stranded but that was the first time I had ever had a problem in seven years! and now that it has a new battery it is back in business. My gut goes towards the toyota sienna because that is what my mom has and I am used to driving it. I would want one where the seats collapse into the ground. I was recently in an odyssey (sp?) though and they are nice and roomy. Do any of you seven readers I invited to my blog have any advice?

Adios

It is official, we are moving to Dallas. Neil accepted a job offer with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Neil and I have spent the past two weeks cleaning and packing and getting the house ready to go on the market. (I am a little tired.) I had a nice long cry about leaving our cute house and my friends and now I am looking forward to some new adventures and a new city. We are actually going to go house sit for Neil's aunt in Dallas so it will be fun to explore the area. I have a list of houses to go check out in person. And I will probably check out a few different wards while we are out there too. I am really sad to be leaving our ward. I just got called to young women's and I love working with the girls. After almost four years in primary it has been a fun change. I am secretly hoping I will get to work in YWs in Dallas too. This is all just happening so fast- we are heading to Dallas on Saturday to house sit. Cross your fingers that our house sells fast or Neil will have to commute home from Dallas on weekends!

A series of unfortunate events

*Last Sunday our family arrived at church just before it started. I took a quick look around, not wanting to sit in the hard metal chairs with my aching pregnant back, and made a beeline for the empty front row pew on the right side of the room. As the meeting progressed John started to get fussy so I decided to just stand up right next to the wall, in the corner and hold him. (He likes to be held standing up so he can spy on people, noisey little man) Anyway, I was standing in front of a door that had a curtain covering the window. Suddenly I felt material fall onto my head and back- John had pulled the curtain completely off the door! In the middle of sacrament meeting! AHHHHHHHHH! Luckily the entire episode was silent and only a handful of people even noticed. The older couple sitting behind us even congratulated me on how well behaved my small children were!

*As I mentioned before I started working on potty training Grace. We had two days where the child just refused to go to the bathroom at all. Apparently G has an impressively giant bladder. And then yesterday, during nap time, I heard a wail. "Mom I messy!" So I went to investigate. Apparently Grace realized she had to use the restroom so she striped off all her clothes and her diaper but didn't make it to the potty in time. Not only that but after she told me she tried to clean up her "mess" and ended up covered in stinky nastiness- it was even smeared on her face! I kind of want to vomit just thinking about it now.

bah

Today is Grace's first day of preschool so I took the opportunity to load little John up in the car and run some errands. I was excited to go to Ulta, I had finally earned a rewards coupon for a free mascara, yay! (Although I have never tried maybelline stiletto mascara before, we shall see how it goes) Then John and I headed to Old Navy. I perused the maternity section because I wanted something cute and comfy to wear around but sadly it was full of sweaters. Now there is nothing I love more then a sweater but it is still 94 degrees where I live and a sweater would equal certain death :( So I dejectedly left empty handed. At this point I realized all I had eaten was a hand full of cheerios before leaving the house and a wave of nausea hit me like a frying pan to the head. Yes, I almost tossed my cookies in the Sam's Club parking lot- thanks little baby Larson #3. Now I have to go pick Little Miss G up. And by the way John now has 6 teeth! They all cut through at once making a grand and painful entrance. His middle right tooth is the farthest along and he looks so goofy cute when he smiles and reveals one mammoth tooth- I just have to smooch his face!
