Happy Birthday

Today is my older sister's birthday. In honor of that fact I am listing 27 fun/freaky facts about Jill.
1. As a child Jill was deathly afraid of dogs. Rountinely at our bus stop she would climb on top of the fire hydrant to escape an over zealous pooch, and yes she would leave me, the helpless younger sister to the dogs mercy.
2. I once fueled Jill's rage by ripping up a picture of Joey Egbert (her crush). She was about 5. She still has not forgotten.
3. Jill has lived in places where it was not unheard of to awake to the gentle rubbing of a rat walking on your face!!!
4. Jill speaks spanish.
5. Jill has a creepy crush on George W.
6. Jill has recently started seeing a "healer"
7. Jill was hit by another car while she was parked and vacuuming out her car trunk.
8. Jill once hit a parked car herself.
9. Jill almost killed me. I was an infant and she stuck a big chocolate egg into my mouth. Luckily my mom saved me.

17. As a child Jill liked to spread elmers glue all over her hands, wait for it to dry, and pick it off.

19. Few things can make her more angry than going through her stuff. Take my advice never look in her purse.
20. Jill was flagged by security at an ariport and a lady opened up her carry on. Jill had put all her make up in a zip lock bag and some of it had smeared all over and there was tissue with lipstick blottings on it, it was a mess! The security agent put it right back in her bag after one disgusted look. I'm glad she wasn't a terrorist.
21. Any physical aliment you can have Jill has had it, and much worse.
22. Jill doesn't like children until they can talk.
23. Jill once threw her retainer away and was too stubborn to look through the garbage for it. It has never been found.
24. Jill taught the daughter of a sweat shop owner.
25. The doctor that delivered Jill was later arrested for arson.
26. Jill currently works in a law office.
27. Jill loves corn dogs!

30 pounds later.....

Ok, its been a while since I've written. The main thing that has occured, is that I have had the flu three times! There are three strains going around Texas and I have been lucky enough to get a taste of each. (I blame my primary class and cub scout den.) The last time was the worst, I thought Neil was going to have to take me to the hospital. My temperature kept going up, up, up. And the worst part is I have tried really hard my entire pregnancy not to take any medicine but tylenol was the only thing that could control the fever. Don't worry I also visited the doctor and the baby is doing fine.

On that fun doctors trip I learned that I have now gained 30 lbs!!!!!!! it is totally healthy but not something any women wants to hear. Five weeks and one day to go until my due date! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I also try not to think about actually having to give birth. yuck.

Also of note, my friend Emily threw me a great baby shower last weekend. She made these delicious eclairs from scratch! yummy! And there was a rockin' pictionary/charades game :) I had a great time but my body crashed after the party and I spent the rest of the weekend in bed. I'll be posting pictures later. I realized after that I didn't get any pictures with me in them though!

Neil has been a champ through my bouts with the flu. He has cleaned our house, brought me roses and chocolates, cooked numerous dinners, rubbed my feet, and is right now out grocery shopping :) Three cheers for him!

Christmas Count Down!

Today I went to go get my hair cut. I go to this salon in the mall and whoa was I reminded that it is almost Christmas. I had to park in the second to last spot at... Sears! When the Sears's parking lot is filled up you know something is going on. I considered playing the pregnancy card and parking handicapped but my conscience got the better of me. But I really feel that women in their last trimester need some extra consideration. From the very end of the parking lot to the store is a long way to waddle. My hairdresser told me that she had two clients cancel on her earlier because they didn't want deal with the traffic. My bangs, however, were out of control and I had no choice but to face the crazy crowds. On another note I have been worried that I am an out of shape pregnant lady, I have started getting winded going up the stairs to the door. Much to my relief, I just read that the baby starts squishing an expectant mother's lungs so being out of breathe is totally normal. Merry Christmas everyone and take my advice avoid the mall until January.

The Weekend

This weekend was busy, but fun. Yesterday the choir I'm in performed The Messiah. It turned out to be a really fun experience even though I dreaded going to the Tuesday night rehearsals these past few months. On Saturday we had a long long rehearsal with the orchestra and soloists and by the end my feet were completely swollen. For those of you who have never experienced swollen pregnancy feet, it is disgusting! Your feet look like big watery marshmallows, bursting out of your shoes. You feel more hobbit then human.
Friday Neil took the day off and we went to a movie and out to lunch. It was great to go on a date. I was really excited to see The Golden Compass since it had gotten so much atheist vs. christian hype, but it was pretty run of the mill stuff. I was disappointed in the sappy ending. Even the music at the very end was gag inducing. However, there were some cool scenes and special effects (the polar bear brawl).
Today during Neil's lunch break we are going to go look at some houses. It should be fun :)
Oh, and another good thing that happened this weekend, my sister in-law sent me a bunch of maternity clothes! Thanks Amy! It doubled my wardrobe. And a dress I had ordered got here and actually fit! (I'm always nervous about online shopping.) It was a good wardrobe weekend.

Social Blunder

I was at Target yesterday with my friend E. We wandered over to the Christmas decorations isle where my eyes were confronted with what appeared to be dead bird bodies. Little did I know these fake birds are the new big thing. E informed me that at Pottery Barn they sell a ton (she works there, she does not just have a freaky knowledge of their inventory). Well, when I saw them I exclaimed, "EWWW, who would buy these, they just look like bird carcasses." To which a random lady replied, "Oh maybe I shouldn't put mine up." To my horror the inside of her cart was bursting with bird bodies. E, trying to save the situation, said "I don't think they are that bad." But the damage was done, we had to flee the now socially awkward Christmas section.

Yesterday I went in for another ultrasound. Once again the baby was bent over in half, but it was confirmed she is really truly a she. We got two great face pictures, I can't stop looking at how cute she is! Here they are.

On another note, the weekend after the car accident Neil and I went to our Church Christmas party. After about an hour and a half I started feeling really sick. Guess what.... I have the flu! And consequently we haven't been able to go get our Christmas tree! We are going tonight. I don't care if I pass out in the store. Yesterday I woke up with a feeling of panic. I had so much Christmas stuff left to do but I was feeling sick. Well, I went out shopping and found Neil some fun presents. I keep wanting him to open them so he can see how great they are! Now I just have to get some things for our stockings, a gift for my father in law and I am done!

A Series of Unfortunate Events or No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Yesterday was an eventful day. I started it out babysitting a 6 month old for this lady at my Church. She works and her mom usually takes her kids two days a week but the mom was going on vacation and she apparently didn't want to shell out the dough for some childcare. So the baby was pretty good overall but screamed like a banshee for an hour if I tried to put him down or even just sit down while holding him. Standing and walking around with a baby for an hour straight is not the easiest thing in the world if you are yourself 6 months pregnant but the situation was not truly horrible because one of my friends graciously invited me to watch the baby at her house, which was baby proofed and filled with important baby things like a pack and play for napping. I had also agreed to watch the baby today but as events unfolded that was not meant to be. After the lady picked up her baby my friend and I decided to go to Target. We strapped my friend's son into his car seat and took off. Much to our dismay, while stopped at a stop light a semi truck decided to ram into the back of the car. It was actually an 18 wheeler with a huge tractor attached. Not only did he ram but he continued to push us the next few feet into the truck in front of us, causing another crunch! Apparently this trucker wasn't smart enough to realize you should hit your break after running into a car, not keep accelerating to the sound of crunching metal! So my friend started calling the police. While on the phone the trucker comes up to the window to say the car is fine. Luckily, my friend handily ignored him, and for the record the entire back of her car was smashed in and scratched! It was at this point I thought that maybe the trucker was also inebriated (as far as we know he wasn't.) So the paramedics checked us out and they told me my blood pressure was off but probably from shock. They asked if I wanted an ambulance. At this point I was totally in shock and asked the paramedic if I should go to the hospital. He didn't really respond so I decided to call my doctor. After being on hold for a while I was told to go straight to the hospital to labor and delivery, but sad news the ambulance was already gone. The police offered to call another one but I figured Neil would get there just as fast, we were close to his office. So I called Neil to come and get me and take me to the hospital, I called and called and called, he was in a meeting and did not have his cell phone on. My friend's husband beat Neil to the scene and gave me a lift to the hospital, where I was to remain for the next six hours strapped to machines. Thankfully the baby is fine and Neil got to the hospital and I wasn't having any crazy contractions, I'm just bruised and sore and have to take it easy until my next checkup on Monday. I have a whole list of scary symptoms to look for and directions to follow. But while I was in the hospital my friend called the lady I was suppose to tend for who was apparently put out that I wasn't willing/capable of watching her child the next day for eight hours, for free! I haven't heard from the lady since, there has been no call to see if I was OK or anything. Some people are so horrible. I'm just glad the accident wasn't more serious and our baby is safe.
