Weekend

We spent this past weekend house and teenager sitting for Neil's parents. I tried to get some pictures of Grace smiling, but I didn't quite capture the moment.
Click on the 2nd picture, Princess Wiggle Worm's face is darling!

Annoyed

I can't sleep and I am annoyed. Four and a half months ago I was in a car accident. I was in a car that was stopped at a red light and a semi truck plowed into the back of the car. I was pregnant at the time and had to spend a long time at the hospital being monitored and then an even longer time recovering from whip lash at home in bed. My husband missed work, I was in pain, things were not pretty. Well, the last week, or maybe a little longer my back has been killing me and I can't chalk it up to pregnancy pain anymore. Hence the typing instead of sleeping at 5:12 AM. My friend who was driving the car suffered soft tissue damage and went through a bout of physical therapy. I was whining about my back and she asked where it hurt and she thinks I have soft tissue damage. This is annoying. I just want to feel well, now I have to go to the doctor. On top of this the insurance adjuster has been giving us the run around. I feel like he is taking advantage of the fact that we are nice people. This accident was completely the truckers fault and I am starting to get mad about the entire thing. I'm going to go to the doctor, find out about this soft tissue stuff and then send this insurance guy a serious email. I feel like the situation is not that complicated. His client smashed into a stopped car, now give me some compensation. Medical bills don't pay for themselves my friend. See that was easy. Now I'm going to go try and get some sleep.

Surrender Foul Rash, Thy Destruction is at Hand

For the past 48 hours I have been waging war. War against the most formidable of foes, the enemy of babies' hindquarters world wide. The name of my nemesis, diaper rash. The problem became apparent when Princess Wiggle Worm's lovely disposition began to sour and fussiness ensued. Being a modern mother I immediately turned to the great sage of my generation, the interweb. We have abandoned baby wipes for warm wet clothes and Princess Wiggle Worm gets her bum blown dry with my hair dryer at each diaper change. Then a lavish amount of diaper cream is smeared on and then we are good to go. It seems to be working, what was once a totally red bottom has transformed into just two red spots. I'm hoping by tomorrow it will be all healed. I've also been letting her air dry on her changing mat, lets just say I've been doing a lot of laundry! Poor baby (her, not me.) Waging war is all consuming, I realized that I was starving and hadn't eaten since the day before, ooppps!

Friday Fun

Things that rock my world...
1. The culinary artist at the Cheesecake Factory who invented the chocolate mousse cheesecake, I am eating it as I type. I don't even like cheesecake that much but this is a Rembrandt of the food world.
2. Elliptical machines, reason.. refer to point #1.
3. Girls Night Out. I'm looking forward to one tomorrow night :)
4. After Easter sales on little girls dresses. I got the cutest dress for Princess Wiggle Worm from The Children's Place, for $9! Neil actually picked it out. So, pretty much if you have a little girl you need to hit that place up. 30% off already marked down prices!

Things I want to throw rocks at...
1. Licorice. People this is not a good treat. It is more akin to rubber than food.
2. The former resident of our apartment, we got a dirty magazine in the mail yesterday addressed to him! Nast!

That is it, all the rest of my thoughts are filled with sunshine and rainbows.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

This post idea was blatantly stolen from another blog I read recently, but I can't remember which blog and I couldn't find it today.

The Good:
1. At my doctors appointment on Monday I was informed that I have lost 25 lbs in two and a half weeks. Giving birth took a load off!
2. Princess Wiggle Worm is finally taking her nap, its been a battle all day long :p
3. The dr. said I can now go walk around the mall if I feel up to it :) Hurray I will be reunited with my dear loves, clothes and sephora.
4. I received a $40 rewards gift certificate to Trade Secret. Me love hair products!

The Bad:
1. I look like I still need to lose some serious poundage.
2. Yesterday I decided to try not taking my pain prescription to see how things would go. Bad idea. Bad, bad idea. By the time Neil came home I was a wreck, everything hurt! That may be my last time trying to be all granola.
3. I can't find my Trade Secret gift certificate. I think I must have put it somewhere strange while I was still on the serious, cause drowsiness, pain meds.

The Ugly:
1. Princess Wiggle Worm's nails are growing and she successfully scratched her face up today. Note the redness under her eye which became apparent during our photo shoot.
2. The 6 1/2 inch scar on my abdomen, its all red and sore looking.
3. Right after I found a top that looked ok on, Princess Wiggle Worm spit up all over me, mondo amounts! Thanks kid.

I Dub Thee Princess Wiggle Worm

As soon as I put Grace down anywhere (boppy, swing, on a blanket) she starts to squirm until she gets into a comfortable position, this can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Therefore from now on the child shall be known as Princess Wiggle Worm.

In other baby news, is it normal for a baby to get the hiccups every time they are burped?

Mighty Mom is Here to Save the Day

It all started on March 20th at 7 AM. Neil and I arrived at the hospital for my induction. By 8 things were well on there way, the medications were quick to act and my contractions were strong and close together. We were hoping the baby would come before 5:30. It was painful until I got a lovely epidural. I was nervous for that part but it didn't hurt at all, just a little prick. Now we just had to wait. To make a long story short I dilated to a 4 but then my cervix would open no more. I had been in labor 12 1/2 hours and I was over the max on dosage of meds when I started to run a fever. At this point it became obvious I was going to have to have a c-section and fast, I just started shaking. When my mom heard the news she came running to the hospital. It was great having her there because she has had 3 c-sections. The surgery was really strange. I was awake and could feel what was going on. Not sharp pains but dull pains and I could tell what they were doing. My doctor said at one point, "This baby has a bigger head then I thought, I should have made a bigger incision." Not exactly what you want to hear. My mom said during one of her surgeries the doctor said, "I need a sharper knife." After the baby was out the drug guy slipped me some Demerol and I actually started snoring while they were stitching me up! Grace and I were on two different antibiotics for the next 48 hours to make sure we didn't develop any infections and after four days were released from the hospital. My mom extended her stay to help out with things and just left this morning. She cooked all my favorite things, did all the laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaned the house top to bottom. Not to mention she helped out tremendously with the baby. After she left with Neil for the airport I burst into tears. But I did feel way better after my tear fest. So now I just have to heal and then I can be about my business. It is disappointing that the recovery is suppose to take 6 weeks, but I am already feeling loads better. I really want to get out and start exercising but that would be certain death since I'm not even suppose to go up stairs. I'll just have to live with the baby roll a little longer. Above is a picture of Grace with her Grandma.
