Recipes

Lately in my foodie group of friends there has been an issue debated, whether or not it is acceptable to refuse to share a recipe. My first reaction is why would you not want to share the food love? But some people are like "It is a family tradition blah blah blah...." To this I say, wouldn't you want other families to be able to adopt the tradition if they wished? Neil's aunt told a funny story about recipe sharing. One of her good friends loves to cook. They went to some social event and one lady brought delicious cookies. And the cookie lady refused to share her recipe. Well Neil's aunt's friend could not take no for an answer and kept asking the cookie lady for it. Finally the battered down cookie lady admitted she had bought the dough from a specialty bake shop and until then had been too embarrassed to tell them! Can anyone think of a legit reason not to share a recipe?

yes, for two reasons.

#1-to make people mad. sometimes i say things i don't even mean just to stir the pot. sometimes i like seeing people react.

#2-if you made it up yourself and you don't want somebody else to take the credit for your creativity.

that said, i would really never refuse to share a recipe. but i could see it being done for those reasons.

Oh you two are funny! I don't really have any recipes to share, but I agree with Emily on #2

I think it's really lame when people do that too! They think they are too cool for school. Whatever.

This lady in my parents' ward kept her brownie cookies recipe secret for years and finally revealed it my friend at her bridal shower. It was really just brownie mix from a box with white chocolate chips added. Give me a break!
